No rise in holding tax: KCC Mayor

Holdings tax assessed during the 1988-'89 financial year will remain enforced, he said this at a press conference.

'Officials responsible for sending letters to citizens to pay increased holding tax will be severely dealt with,' he reaffirmed people. 'This was done without my knowledge,' he informed people.

A group of vested interest is trying to malign his image in a planned manner with a view to retarding ongoing development work here.

'I am determined to foil the deep-rooted conspiracy hatched up by vested interests with a political motive,' he said.

'I am sure they will not succeed in their vile attempt to tarnish my image built through work as an elected mayor', he added.
