Two police officers including an acting officer-in-charge (OC) were closed to Satkhira police lines allegedly for pilfering timber that had been seized while being smuggled out of the Sundarbans, police sources said.

The superintendent of police in Satkhira took the disciplinary action against Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam, acting OC and Nazrul Islam, assistant sub-inspector of Shyamnagar Police Station, sources added.

ASI Nazrul Islam had lately recovered 29cft illegal timber and stored those in a sawmill at Noateki Bazaar in Shyamnagar upazila reportedly with intent to make furniture for his personal use, said sources.
