Israel frees 159 prisoners
Israel released almost 160 Pales-tinian prisoners Monday as an act of goodwill towards Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak which was dismissed as a public relations gimmick by the Palestinians.
"The release process has been completed. A total of 159 prisoners has been released," an army spokesman told AFP.
A total of 113 of the inmates were classified as security prisoners but none had taken part in deadly attacks or deemed to have "blood on their hands". The remainder had been detained for illegally entering Israel.
