ASA to disburse Tk 50 cr microcredit next year

The Association for Social Advancement (ASA), an NGO, will disburse Tk 50 crore loans among 50,000 poor families in Moulvibazar district next year.

This was revealed at a roundtable meeting of ASA officials with journalists, held at its office here recently.

Md Enamul Haque, District Manager of ASA, said that ASA is the only NGO in the country which is now working without any foreign fund. It receives funds from government's Pally Karmasanghthan Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) at 7 per cent interest.

ASA has 25 branches in Moulvibazar district. It has 36100 members in seven upazilas in the district. It will open six more branches in the district next year, it was told at the meeting.
