3 Russian human rights advocates win Olof Palme Prize
Three Russian human rights advocates have been awarded the 2004 Olof Palme Prize, the jury of the Olof Palme Memorial Fund announced on Wednesday.
The prize went to Ljudmila Alexeyeva, the chairwoman of the Russia Helsinki Committee, Sergei Kovalyov, a dissident and critic of Russia's war with Chechnya, and Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist and author.
"The three prize winners are all influential symbols of the long battle for human rights in Russia," the fund said.
