8 JCD leaders sued in Gaibandha

Eight Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders were sued on Wednesday for threatening Awami League (AL) chief Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Aminuzzaman filed the case with the court of magistrate Masudul Huq, Gaibandha.

They are JCD President Azizul Bari, General Secretary Saiful Bari, members Sultan Salauddin, Salimuzzaman, Hasem Mahmud, Saiful Islam, Abdul Hakim and Dulal Hossain.

Another charge against the JCD leaders was making defamatory and provocative statement against Hasina.

The petitioners complained that the accused persons threatened the Awami League president and BCL leaders at a meeting held on the premises of Aparajeyo Bangla in Dhaka University after a procession on the campus on February 3. They also abused Shiekh Hasina with filthy language at the meeting.

After hearing, the magistrate recorded the plaintiff's petition. Thirty pro- Awami League lawyers pleaded the prosecution. The court took the case into cognizance and ordered an investigation.
