Akhaura bypass rly line to be ready by December

According to official sources, the 3-kilometre bypass link rail line is being constructed from Titas Bridge railway crossing to Azampur on 25 acres of land to make train journey comfortable.

Forty per cent work of the bypass line has been completed, according to official sources. It included earth-filling work and point making work on the line near Titas Railway Bridge.

On its completion, Dhaka-Sylhet trains will run through the bypass line directly. As a result, train passengers can save time by one and a half hours.

At present, trains running from Dhaka to Sylhet stop at Akhaura junction in order to change engine. It takes 30 minutes to about an hour delaying the journey.

Besides, four railway stations and 22 railway signals on Akhaura Sylhet route are also being modernised by the railway authorities.

A new modern building has already been constructed at Sreemangol Railway Station at a cost of Tk 4.38 cr while construction work of Kulaura Railway Station is progressing.

Moreover, work on modernisation of Akaura junction is likely to start soon, according to official sources.
