'Outlaw Hasan planned grenade attack on Khulna Mayor's jeep'

The outlaw is Rafiqul Islam alias Hasan.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) learnt it from him after a long interrogation since Hasan's arrest on February 14.

According to reliable source, the plan for the grenade attack was finalised on the night of February 27 which former additional police super knew.

He was annoyed with the mayor after being failed to win a tender competition. The tender was invited by the City Corporation for installation of a computer network early last year.

Both Hasan and PBCP-Janajuddho threatened the mayor with death sometime in January.

The work worth over Tk two crore was given to city mayor's son by manipulation although KCC sources said that the tender for supplying computer, software and other materials worth over Tk 64 lakh was given to a friend of the mayor.

Showing arrested in connection with Dip Azad bomb attack case, Hasan was sent to Khulna district jail.
