The Daily Star journalist honoured by ILO

Two NGOs-- Bangladesh Trade Union Kendro (BTUK), and SETU-- accorded the receptions on Friday and on February 16.

On Friday, an ILO crest was handed over to Aman at a function held in Kushtia town.

Kushtia Municipality Chairman Anwar Ali attended the function as chief guest while Islamic University teacher Prof. Hurunur-ur-Rashid Askari and Kustia Sammilito Sangskritik Jote President Nazrul Islam Sarkar were special guests.

Speakers at the function included MA Kader, Executive Director of SETU, Ahasanul Haq Nabab, Assistant Programme Coordinator of BTUK, Kushtia CPB (Communist Party of Bangladesh) President Rafiqul Islam and its General Secretary Monwar Hossain, poets Khaiyum Bashar, Bilu Kabir and Saeyda Habiba, Khokon Sirajul Islam and lawyer Rajib Ahasan Ranju.

Journalists, educationists, NGO officials and social workers attended the function.

On February 16, another ILO crest was handed over to Aman by Chief Technical Advisor of ILO's IPEC (International Programme for Eliminating Child Labour) project, Suwjeeba Fonseka at a function held at Allahrdarga in Daulatpur upazila in the district.

Sector Coordinator of USDOL (United States Department of Labourer) project AT Siddique was also presented there.

Amanur Aman started his journalist career with a newspaper when he was a college student in 1990. He earlier worked with Bangla national dailies Ajker Kagoj and Daily Sangbad. He is an M, Phil Research Fellow in the Public Administration department in Islamic University.
