One drowns as trawler capsizes in Meghna

The incident occurred near Mehendiganj town when a Chittagong-bound oil tanker hit the fishing trawler, according to surviving fishermen.

Fisherman Faisal Sikder drowned while others managed to swim ashore. They were admitted to Mehendiganj Upzila Health Complex. Condition of Jamal, 25, Zizam, 25, Monir, 27, has been stated to be critical, according to hospital sources.

The oil tanker sped away immediately after the mishap. The body of Faisal has been sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
