BDR on alert in Dinajpur after push-in bid foiled

According to BDR sources and frontier people, BSF of Basontipur camp, in two bids, tried to push in 32 Bangla-speaking Indians into Bangladesh territory through two border points amid torrential rains.

The BSF pushed them at gun-point through a maize field, opposite Tazpur BDR outpost.

BDR personnel from Tazpur outpost caught them, took them to local Union Parishad Chairman Azizul Islam and kept them under his custody to provide dood..

During interrogation, the Indians who included three women and four children told the BDR and the UP leader that they were citizens of India and working in different Indian cities.

Indian police picked them up along with dozens of others three weeks back from New Delhi and handed them over to the BSF for pushing them into Bangladesh.

BDR pushed them back to Indian territory Friday night, BDR sources said.

The victims also told BDR that BSF assembled several hundred Bangla-speaking Indians along the northwestern frontiers to push them into Bangladesh, BDR sources said.
