72 BNP men quit party
Our Netrakona Correspondent reports: Forty-four BNP leaders and workers of Joyka union under Karimganj upazila in Kishoreganj have resigned from party on Saturday.
They tendered their resignation jointly to Education Minister Dr Osman Faruque at his residence in Dhaka on Saturday.
Joyka union was once known as a BNP stronghold.
The joint signatories are Joyka union BNP president Azizur Rahman Bhuiya, Joyka Union Parishad (UP) chairman Md Nuruzzaman, vice presidents Masum Khan and SM Sawkat Kabir, joint secretary Hadiul Islam Dulal, assistant organising secretaries Md Abu Taher and Md Saidur Rahman, publicity secretary Dr Md Osman Gani, assistant publicity secretary Md Siddique Hossain, office secretary Md Barzu Mia, assistant office secretary Md Mostafizur Rahaman and all presidents and secretaries of Ward No 9.
When contacted with Md Rafiqur Rahaman Karimganj upazila BNP president, he admitted the fact to this correspondent.
However, despite frantic efforts by this correspondent, the education minister, also a member of parliament (MP) from the constituency could not be contacted.
Our Jessore Correspondent reports: Twenty-eight BNP leaders Chanchra union resigned en masse protesting misbehaviour of district leader and Chanchra UP Chairman Abdur Razzaque on Sunday.
They submitted the resignation letter to Kotwali thana BNP president and secretary.
