100 tonnes of maize seized at Bhomra port

Bhomra land port sources said, M/S Taru Enterprise of in Jessore imported maize. Seven trucks loaded with the maize entered the part on Tuesday.

M/s Gazi Enterprise, the clearing and forwarding agent (C&F) at Bhomra, submitted documents to the customs authorities for release of the goods.

The customs officials on suspicion checked the maize and found those to be inedible.

The trucks were later taken to Benapole land port.

When contacted, Bhomra Land Port Customs Superintendent Abdur Rouf confirmed the seizure of maize and said legal steps will be taken against the importer.

On March 15, 117 tonnes of 'rotten' wheat were seized at the Bhomra port.

Bhomra land port authorities said, M/s Salehin Brothers of Khulna had imported the rotten wheat from India.
