50 hurt in Kushtia BNP factional clashes

Four houses were damaged in the incidents. Two separate cases were filed, police said.

Police said two rival factions led by Boalia Union Parishad Chairman Bazlur Rahman and Habibur Rahman clashed at Boalia over distribution of VGD (vulnerable group development) card among party men.

Both groups used iron sticks, bamboo and lethal weapons in the clash, leaving at least 30 people injured.

Seven of them have been admitted to Harinakundu upazila health complex. They are Mahiuddin Mollah, Jahidul, Abu Hanif, Sanwar, Makbul, Rabi and Tizam.

One Nauser Ali belonging to the Bazlur Rahman faction filed a case with Harinakundu police station accusing 82 people of the Habibur-led faction.

The other clash took place between supporters of Tizarat and Isarat at Rathkhola village in the evening over establishing supremacy in the area.

At least 20 people were injured and some houses were damaged in the clash. Twelve of the injured have been admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. They are Hasi Khatun, Jobeda, Matiur, Atiur, Bazla, Raihan, Akter, Sirajul, Majid, Azizur, Mansur and Milon.
