15 hurt as JCD factions clash at RU

The critically injured persons are Motiur Rahman Mantu, central Jubo Dal Assistant Organising Secretary and former RU JCD president; Mustafizur Rahman Munna, RU Section Officer and former RU JCD president; Rokonuzzaman Mamun, RU Section Officer and former joint convenor of JCD; and JCD activists Zahangir Alam Raja, Mustafa and Mobarak.

The clash erupted after activists belonging to the faction led by Rafikul Islam attacked Mantu and Raja of the faction led by Aslam Reza at around 11am over a precious enmity.

Some senior JCD leaders along with many of the controversially appointed 544 employees were later involved in the clashes that lasted for about an hour.

Police quelled the violence.

Tension mounted on the campus following the incident. Police were guarding the campus to avert further clashes.
