2 train accidents in Mymensingh: Communication snapped for hrs

Train communication on Mymensingh-Bhairab, Mymensingh-Zaria Zanjail and Mymensingh-Mohanganj routes was disrupted as five compartments of two goods trains derailed in two accidents Saturday evening and in the early hours of yesterday.

Railway control room sources said one bogie of a Bahadurabad Ghat bound goods train from Akhaura derailed at the outer signal of Mymensingh railway station at about 6 pm on Saturday.

Later a relief train recovered the derailed compartment at 3 am yesterday. Train communication was restored after 12 hours at 6 am yesterday.

In another accident in the early hours of yesterday, four bogies of another Mymensingh bound goods train from Mohanganj derailed between Gouripur and Shamganj stations, snapping train communication on Mymensingh-Mohanganj and Mymensingh-Zaria Zanjail routes. The link was restored after eight hours.

Hundreds of passengers were stranded at different railway stations due to the accidents.
