Bomb recovered near newspaper office in Nilphamari
The bomb, wrapped in red tape and connected with a pencil battery through electric wire, was found a few yards off The Weekly Nilsagar office, police said.
Journalists of The Sangbad, The Jugantar, The Daily Star, ATN Bangla, NTV, BDNEWS, Ajker Kagoj, Amader Samoy, Desh Bangla, Karotoa and other mass media carry out duties at the office.
Natua, a sweeper, found the bomb in the early morning.
Police took away the bomb but Nilphamari Superintendent of Police (SP) Soib Ahmed claimed that it was not a bomb.
Meanwhile, the district administration has curtailed the Victory Day programme and changed the venue of the traditional parade.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held on Sunday at the conference room of the District Collectorate with Deputy Commissioner Rabindra Nath Roy Chowdhury in the chair.
Tight security measures will be strengthened and the parade will be held at the district stadium instead of Nilphamari High School ground.
