JMB threat to blow up court, temple, shrine in B'baria

The establishments facing the threat are Annada High School, Akhaura Kella Shaheed Mazar, Merura Temple and Anandomayi Kalibari.

The threat was given in letters sent to the establishments by post on Thursday, a copy of which was also sent to Brahmanbaria Press Club. The letters were signed by one Al-Amin who identified himself as a JMB cadre in Brahmanbaria.

The letter sent to the press club was addressed to its president.

Our Jessore Correspondent reports: National University (NU) Masters examination at Jessore Government City College centre began one hour behind schedule yesterday due to a bomb hoax.

Principal of the college. Prof Jalaluddin told journalists that the examination was scheduled to begin at 9.00 am. The rooms were being opened at 8.30 am. When the peon opened a room, he found a bomb-like thing wrapped in red tape on a chair and some electric wires hanging from it.

The frightened staff raised a hue and cry and inform the principal an others. Within minutes, horrified examinees and college staff ran away out for fear.

Kotwali police were informed over telephone. Police, RAB and other law enforcing agency personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. They recovered the bomb-like thing and took it to Jessore Kotwali thana. It was filled with sand.

The examination began after one hour when police disclosed the hoax, the principal said.
