Zainul Festival begins in Mymensingh

A two-day festival marking the 91st birth anniversary of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin began at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (Gallery) here yesterday.

A children's art competition was held at the Sangrahashala gallery in Shaheb Quarter Park area in the afternoon. Eminent artist Aminul Islam inaugurated the competition.

More than 200 child students of 50 schools of the district took part in the competition. The competition was held in three age groups from play group to high school level.

Thirteen prizes will be awarded to the winners and certificates will be given to all the participants, Sangrahashala sources said.

A discussion on 'Life and Works of Shilpacharya' will be held at the gallery hall room on December 29.

Deputy Keeper of the Sangrahashala, Dr Bijoy Krishna Banik told The Daily Star this year's programme has been cut short fearing bomb attack.
