4 JMB men on 12-day fresh remand in Ctg

Four Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operatives including their Chittagong divisonal chief Mohammad alias Aman Ullah alias Jabhed Iqbal were placed on fresh remand for 12 days in two separate cases on Sunday.

The other JMB men are Naimuzzaman alias Zafor alias Sohag, Rafiqul Islam alias Jabhed alias Roman and Manirul Islam. Previously all of them were remanded in two phases for 20 days.

Police produced them before Metropolitan Magistrate Monwarul Islam's court with prayers for their 15 days remand in an explosive case and an arms case filed with Pahartali Police Station on December 14, 2005.

The court granted their remand for 7 days each in the explosive case and five days in the arms case, sources said.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested JMB Chittagong divisional chief Mohammad alias Aman Ullah alias Jabhed Iqbal and JMB Cox's Bazar district commander Naimuzzaman alias Zafor with huge explosives, bombs and bomb manufacturing materials from a semi-pucca house at Kattali on December 13 midnight.

Acting on their confession, Rab arrested two others, Rafiqul Islam alias Jabhed alias Roman and Manirul Islam.
