Extortionists have become active in different offices of the district ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Officials of various government and NGO offices alleged that most of the extortionists are Jatiytabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) leaders and activists. It has been alleged that the extortionists have demanded toll ranging between Tk 2,000 and Tk 5 lakh from them.

In presence of this correspondent, a group of JCD men went to Atpara Education Office Thursday noon. They demanded Tk 1,000 from an official. On refusal, they threatened him to take the money by force.
