'Punish killers of Kibria’

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University unit yesterday held a rally on the central library premises and demanded trial of the killers of Kibria and all other political activists.

At the rally, organised to observe first death anniversary of Awami League leader and former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria, the BCL leaders said defeated forces of the Liberation War are raising heads as Islamist militants and carrying out bomb attacks across the country.

They criticised the government for no progress in Kibria murder and demanded reinvestigation into the case.

The BCL leaders said there is no security of life in the country as the religious militants are carrying out bomb attacks taking advantage of government lax in identifying and arresting the masterminds.

They threatened to a launch a tougher movement against the government if the killer were not punished. They also protested all political killings and demanded trial of cases.

Among others, RU BCL vice president Tapos Kumar, joint secretary Ujjal, central leaders Rashidul Islam and Zahid Ali spoke at the rally.
