UNDP team reviews CHT development projects
The separate workshops held at the district council auditorium, collectorate auditorium and Parjatan motel were attended by government officials and local public representatives involved in implementing the projects and the local people covered by the project.
On Sunday, the UNDP team joined three other workshops to review implementation of projects, held separate meetings with Bandarban Hill District Council Mrs. Ma Mya Ching and Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Alauddin. The delagation came here on Saturday.
The team will visit Shikdarpara and Choriopara villages in the Sadar upazila tomorrow to see implementation of some programmes.
Its members include UNDP Senior Advisor Dr. Elayne Gallagher, Ms. Louise Storey, Management Consultant Bryan Stoller, Member of Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council Rupayan Dewan, Deputy Secretary of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Ministry Kazi Shafiqul Azam, BRAC (an NGO) official Abdur Rahman.
The UNDP is implementing Tk 300 crore projects in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), emphasising on youth employment and development of marketing of agricultural products and tourism sector.
UNDP source said that for successful implementation of development projects, they are implementing a project on Institutional Capacity Building in CHT in the first phase.
They said Tk 4 lakh will be spent in each village for capacity building of local people under a Quick Impact Fund.
To this end, village committees, assisted by NGOs, are preparing and implementing 'micro projects' on priority basis.
