Pirates loot 7 trawlers, throw 30 fishermen into sea

Fishing equipment and fishes worth about Tk five lakh were looted in the attack, some of the victims admitted to hospitals in Kalapara and Mohipur said yesterday.

Injured Nizam Munshi, 42,Yusuf, 37 and Joynal, 45, who reached Kalapara coast Saturday morning said the pirates continued the swoop in the estuary for about three hours from Friday evening.

The looted trawlers included FB Nahar, Kakoli, Vai Vai, and Sagor and unnamed three others.

Police in Kalapara said they heard about the incident but a case was yet to be filed.
