3 women lured to India five years ago return home

They are Rabeya Khatun, 20, daughter of Mofazzal Hossain of Keragachhi, Kalaroa, Satkhira, Asma Khatun, 18, daughter of late Abdul Aziz of Keraniganj, Dhaka and Shahla Khatun, 22, daughter of Ahmed Ali of Ranorampur village in Jamalpur.

They were handed over to Bangladesh authorities following an intervention of Bangladesh Mahila Ainjibi Samity.

Bangladesh (BDR) Naik Subedar Abul Kalam, Immigration sub-inspector (SI) Bahauddin and Benapole Port Police Station SI Abdul Jalil received them from Rekha Gosai, an executive of Shanglap, an Indian NGO and Indian BSF company commander Sandwip Kumar after examination of relevant papers at Petrapole BSF camp.

BSF sources said, the three women were lured to India by some pimps offering 'good' jobs about five years ago. Indian security personnel arrested them from Delhi about a year ago. Later, they were sent to a shelter home of Shanglap.

However, another woman named Sakina Mandol, 20, daughter of Abder Ali Mandol of Chuadanga could not return to Bangladesh because of mistakes in her documents. She had to return to the shelter home.

Mahila Ainjibi Samity executives have taken a move to bring her back within a week.
