Newsman sued in Patuakhali

Baufal upazila Jubo Dal secretary Gazi Gias Uddin filed the Tk 5 lakh defamation case with the magistrate court against the Baufal correspondent of The Daily Janakantha, Quamruzzaman alias Bachchu.

Court sources said, Bachchu filed a report titled 'Sarkari Daler Neta Bole Katha' (a tale of a leader of the ruling party) describing Gias Uddin as an accused in more than one criminal cases including murder, rape and torture on women.

Challenging the report, Gias Uddin told the court that he is not an accused in any rape case. He further said that after publication of the story his prestige was punctured.

The court asked the Baufal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) to submit a report after proper investigation.
