Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday submitted a memorandum to Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed containing a 20-point demand for socio-economic development of the people of Rangpur.

RCCI leaders led by its president Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu handed over the memorandum to the BB governor on Thursday when he came to Rangpur on a day's visit.

The demands include expeditious construction and operation of BB's Rangpur branch, removal of obstacles on way to setting up of agro-based industries in Rangpur and formation of a separate loan policy for greater Rangpur.

Besides, the RCCI leaders also stressed BB's action against private banks which are charging 12 per cent interest on project loan.

They also urged the Bangladesh Bank governor to take steps so that commercial banks also give soft loans to unemployed educated youths for income generating activities.
