Rivals abduct JCD leader, beat him up
A leader of Jessore MM Government College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was beaten up after abduction by his rival faction activists Saturday morning, JCD sources said.
They said Rakibul Islam Rakib was abducted by party rivals led by Babu of Stadiumpara and Rana of Shashtitalapara. They tied him with a tree at Shashtitalapara and beat him up.
Being informed, Kotwali police went to the spot and rescued him.
But, leaders of Rakib's faction alleged that they had gone to Kotwali Police Station to lodge a case but police declined to record it. In protest, they brought out a procession in the town and held a street meeting.
Speakers at the meeting demanded immediate arrest of the abductors. They also condemned police inaction.
