No dialogue with Jamaat, Nasim tells Satkhira rally

There will be no dialogue with the government if it includes Jamat-e-Islami in talks with the opposition, he said addressing a public meeting at Kathanda Bazar in the Sadar upazila.

The government is adamant to keep Jamaat in the negotiation team, which proves it is not sincere to resolve the crisis, the AL leader said and called upon the people to intensify the current agitation to realise the demands.

He said, people have taken to streets and will not return home without realising their demands for the sake of a credible election.

Nasim said the government is reluctant to hold talks as it has a blue print to cling to power by holding a farcical polls.

"They will hold a farcical election by using the government machinery, law enforcers, money and muscle power", he alleged.

Islamic militants are creations by this government as part of a plan to retain power, he said.

He demanded immediate arrest and punishment of ruling party leaders who harboured top militants including Jamaatul Mujahideen, Bangladesh (JMB) chief Shaekh Abdur Rahman and its second man Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai.

Islamist outfits are still active in the country under different names and under the shelter of a partner in the ruling alliance, the front ranking AL leader claimed.

The former minister also bitterly criticised the BNP-Jamat government for price hike of essentials and its failure to provide uninterrupted supply of power and fuel and adequate fertlisers to farmers.

Chaired by Sadar thana AL president Shawkat Hossain, the meeting was addressed by, among others, Engineer Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Dr. Ruhul Haque.
