WFP programme observed in CHT

This year the day was observed with the slogan "Fight Hunger: Walk the World".

The days programme began with a colourful rally in the town, participated by the elite, professionals and NGOs implementing WHF programmes. The procession began from Rangamati Hill District Council office premises and terminated in front of the Tribal Culture Institute (TCI). Later, a film show was held at the TCL to raise funds to fight child hunger.

The WFP observes the day every year to create awareness against child hunger. Last year hunger and malnutrition claimed more lives than by AIDS across the globe, WFP sources said.

WFP helps 90 million people including 61 million children in 80 countries, WFP sources said.
