A suggestion on broadening tax net

Another budget is around the corner. Now it is time to think of broadening tax network. In 2011, a report said that there were at least 50,000 bank accounts in the  country which had at least one crore taka balance over the past 12 months. I am sure this number has increased now. Even at Thana and union levels, one would notice a large number of five or six storied private buildings, which have been built in the last one decade. Where has this money come from? Do the owners of this money have a TIN? Nobody perhaps knows the answer, but one thing is sure that the money was deposited in some bank accounts. NBR can check all the accounts of union level banks and figure out the people who have got from fifty lakh to one crore taka in the bank. These people may be asked to inform NBR about the source of their money and help them have a TIN account. Hope NBR will ponder over the matter.
