Jennifer Lopez began taking singing and dancing lessons when she was five years old. One of her first gigs was in Japan where she was a dancer in the musical Synchronicity. She was paid 1 million USD for her role in "Selena" in 1997. Lopez's second album, JLo, was released on January 23, 2001 and it was an instant hit. She is also the first actress to have a movie and an album hit number one in the same week.

J.Lo earned 15 million USD for her role in 2005's “Monster-in-Law”, making her the highest paid Latina actress in Hollywood at the time.
