Beyoncé offered role in “The Wiz”

Beyoncé has reportedly been offered a role in NBC's upcoming production of “The Wiz” as Glinda the Good Witch. 

Mary J Blige and Queen Latifah are already signed on to play the Wicked Witch of the West Evillene and the Wizard respectively, so the production already has some star power. But Beyoncé's addition would be a huge addition. 

E! News first reported this, citing unnamed sources. Emmy-winning “Orange is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba is reportedly also being considered for the part. 

The original “The Wiz” Broadway cast in 1975 featured Grammy-winning jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater as Glinda, while Lena Horne took the role in the 1978 film, which also starred Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. 

The musical is an adaptation of L Frank Baum's “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” with an entirely African-American cast.
