The dog's names given by his human owners include Toby, Bailey, Ellie, Bear and Buddy.

Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juliet Rylance, Peggy Lipton, Pooch Hall and John Ortiz are starring in the film.

The film, produced by DreamWorks in association with Walden Media, is currently in production with Lasse Hallstrom directing from a screenplay by Cameron, Cathryn Michon and Audrey Wells.
