Cricket stumps recovered from DU food shop

The Dhaka University authorities seized more than 100 cricket stumps and bats from a small shop on the campus premises near the TSC last night.

A team of officials from the proctor's office seized the items from Dhaka University Snacks (DUS) around 8:30pm, Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani told The Daily Star.

Anwar Parvez, a DUS employee, told reporters that several university students kept the cricket bats inside the shop.

As officials made the seizure, several students said they had put the cricket bats and stumps there to be able play cricket later.

Meanwhile, two independents Solaiman Islam Munna, vice-president contender of Zahurul Haq Hall Union and Zubair Ahmed, social service affairs secretary contender of Sir AF Rahman Hall Union withdrew their candidacy in support of the BCL panel.
