51 Students win Trust Scholarship 2014 at Eastern University

Eastern University held a scholarship awarding ceremony on June 2 at the University premises where 51 meritorious students received scholarships funded by some generous members of the university's Board of Trustees.
The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, the Vice Chancellor of the University. Syed Mohsin Ali, Minister for Social Welfare, graced the occasion as the chief guest and awarded scholarships to the students. Advocate Fazilatun Nasa Bappy, MP was the special guest.
A special honour was conferred on Shykh Seraj, Director and Head of News of Impress Telefilm Ltd, for his pioneering contribution towards agricultural development in Bangladesh.

Certificate Award Ceremony at UAP English Dept

Certificate Award Ceremony of a 4-week English Language Proficiency Course (ELPC) conducted by the English Department of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was held on May 4.
Pro Vice Chancellor of UAP, Professor Dr. M.R. Kabir, addressed the programme as chief guest while head of the department, Professor S.M. Amanullah presided over it.
The course was aimed at enhancing the English language proficiency of UAP students. Forty-seven students of different departments were awarded certificates at the event.

DIU holds orientation for freshers

The orientation programme for the newly enrolled undergraduate students of Daffodil International University's Summer-2014 semester was held on June 7, 2014 at the university's permanent campus auditorium.
Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest at the orientation programme. Presided over by Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Director of Daffodil's permanent campus, the event was also addressed by Emeritus Professor Dr. Aminul Islam; Professor Dr. Zakir Hossain, Director of Studies and Dean, Faculty of Business & Economics; Dr. S.M. Mahbub-Ul- Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science & Information Technology; Professor Dr. Engr. A.K.M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar; Professor Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director, Student Affairs; Professor Dr. Md. Fayezur Rahman, Head, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; and Masum Iqbal, Head, BBA Programme.
Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman urged the newly enrolled students to make the best use of the resources provided by the university. Dr. Aminul Islam explained how education is of vital importance for the development of a country.

Green University celebrates World  Environment Day

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) celebrated the World Environment Day-2014 on June 5 at its auditorium.
Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice Chancellor of the university, inaugurated the programme while Professor Dwijen Sharma was the chief guest. Treasurer of GUB, Md. Shahid Ullah and Registrar Lt. Col. (Retd.) Md. Ali Ambial Haque Khan were the special guests.  
At the event GUB students discussed ways to combat environmental issues and were encouraged to promote awareness programmes. The faculty members, staff and the student clubs of the university donated plants on the occasion.

Election of 'Association of Non Government Universities of Bangladesh' held

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of the Executive Council of ‘Association of Non Government Universities of Bangladesh’ was held on June 6 in Dhaka.
An executive committee consisting of ten members was formed for the year 2014 and 2015 where Sheikh Kabir Hossain, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Fareast International University and Benajir Ahmed, former Chairman, North South University and Founder-Life Member of NSU Trust, were elected as the President and Secretary General respectively.
Other members of the Executive Committee are Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, World University of Bangladesh as Vice President; K.B.M. Moinuddin Chisti, Victoria University of Bangladesh as Treasurer; and C.M. Shafi Sami, University of Asia Pacific; Mr. Kazi Rofiqul Alam, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology; Jalaluddin Ahmed, East West University; Md. Sobur Khan, Daffodil International University; Ahsanul Islam Titu, City University; Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, as executive members.
