Mind-Gym Launched at EWU

East West University's Environmental & Social Club launched Mind-Gym -- a counseling programme for the students -- on June 17 at EWU campus.
Noted counselor Professor Mehtab Khanam inaugurated the programme. Professor Dr. M. Sekander Hayat Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of  East West University, was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. S.S.M. Sadrul Huda, Assistant Professor and Moderator of the club, coordinated the programme.
This new initiative of  EWU ESC is going to help the students by organising sessions conducted by in-house and external specialists focusing on various types of stress students experience.

Debate Festival at GUB

Green University Debating Club organised the 1st National Public Speaking Competition which started on June 10 and ended with a Grand Finale on June 20, 2014. Country's leading 18 colleges and 16 Universities have participated in the event. In public speaking (Bangla & English), Simantha, a student from Jahangirnagar University won the champion trophy. Oishi, a student of Viqarunnisa Noon College become the champion at college level.
All the departments of GUB actively participated in Inter-Department Debate Competition. Department of Law became Champion in both the Bangla and English segments while Department of Business Administration and Department of English were the Runners Up respectively. At the closing session of this grand programme, Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, President, Debate for Democracy, was present as the chief guest. Professor Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh presided over the session. 

The Detector-Part 1 at UIU

The Finance Forum of United International University (UIUFF), under UIU Career Counseling Center (CCC), will organise an Intra-University Finance Competition, “The Detector-Part 1”, for the business students of UIU. The competition is based on finding out the problems and errors in the world of finance. It is designed to evaluate the students' decision-making ability.
The competition will be held on June 27 from 9:30 to 18:30. On that day, participants will take part in an online based quiz. The qualifying ones will do a financial statement analysis, find out and correct the errors. The top ten scorers will be given an investment proposal where they need to find out the mistakes and must come up with an appropriate result. The Prize Giving Ceremony will be held on June 28, at UIU Auditorium at 15:00.
The UIUFF Team will organise a four-day training programme for this competition at the UIU main campus.

ASAUB holds Seminar on Food Adulteration & Remedy

Pharmacy Department of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) organised a seminar on 'Food Adulteration & its Remedy' on June 11. Professor Shah Md. Keramat Ali, Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Dhaka and Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and former Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka were present as the key speakers at the seminar. Professor Dr. Dalem Ch. Barman, Vice Chancellor of ASAUB and Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Adviser of ASAUB also spoke on the occasion.
The speakers discussed the various health problems which are caused by food adulteration, ways to increase public awareness and how to treat adulterated fruits and vegetables.
Deans and Chairmen of different departments, teachers, officials and students were also present at the seminar. 

School of Life Sciences, IUB turns 1

The School of Life Sciences, SLS, at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) celebrated its 1 year anniversary recently.  SLS is quickly becoming one of the most competitive programmes for Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Biotechnology in Bangladesh. Vice Chancellor of IUB, Professor M. Omar Rahman; Dean of SLS, Dr. Rita Yusuf; the Registrar; other Deans; senior administrative staff; faculty members and students were present at the event.
