Industry visit by BRAC University Students
On June 21, 2014 a group of 36 students of BRAC Business School went to visit Matin Spinning at DBL Industrial Park in Gazipur. This study tour was organised for the current students of Production-operation Management course under BBA programme. The visit was guided by the course faculty, Md. Tamzidul Islam from BRAC Business School and a group of executives from DBL. Among them Md. Shamimul Haque, General Manager and Md. Golam Kibria, Assistant General Manager were present on the occasion. The visit aimed to provide the students with hands-on experience and create interest in this sector as a potential career option as it contributes 80 percent of national export.

Talk on Shakespeare's Othello at IUB
The Department of English at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a talk on 'Introducing Shakespeare's Othello' on June 19 at IUB's campus. Professor Syeda Selina Jamil of the Department of English, Prince George's Community College, Maryland, USA, was the keynote speaker.
Towhid Samad, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, IUB, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Professor M. Omar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, also spoke on the occasion. Syed Mazharul Islam, Head, Department of English, IUB, delivered the welcome speech and vote of thanks.
Members of the faculty and management, along with students, attended and took part in an interactive question-answer session.

Declaration of Budget 2014-15 for Stamford University Bangladesh
On June 30, the budget of Stamford University Bangladesh for 2014-15 was declared in which education, research, information technology, seminar-symposium and development funds were emphasised. Professor Dr. M.A. Hannan Feroz, founder, founder VC and President, Stamford Board of Trustees presided over the meeting and Professor Lutfor Rahman, Treasurer of the University presented the budget. Members of the Trustee Board, Fatinaaz Feroz, Mahbub Alam Zakir; Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Feroze Ahmed; Pro-VC Professor Dr. K. Maudood Elahi; Registrar S.M. Ikramul Haque; and Director, Finance Md. Joherull Huq Khan, among others, were present at the event.
ULAB organises seminar on Earth Observation Satellites
The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, ULAB organised a seminar on “Earth Observation Satellites and its Application to Local and Global Scales” on June 18. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Shahjahan Ali, Professor, Department of Applied Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Islamic University, Kushtia.
Dr. Shahjahan provided an introduction to satellite based remote sensing technology and later focused on applications of satellite data on the local and global scales.
Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim Mazumder, Head of Department, ETE, along with students and other faculties of ULAB were present at the seminar.
“Marketer's Market 2014” at UIU
“Marketer's Market 2014”, presented by UIU and Computer Mania, raised its curtain on June 23 at UIU. Country Engineering Consultant, Google Bangladesh, Dr. Khan Md Anwarus Salam; CEO of parardokan.com, M. Saud Imran; and Vice Chancellor of UIU, Professor Dr. M. Rezwan Khan inaugurated the programme.
The competition was organised by UIU Marketing Forum (UIUMF) -- from June 23 to 25 from 9 am to 6 pm. The fair was open to students from all universities. There were 26 participants from different public and private universities across Dhaka.
Affan Mahmud Chowdhury, the Chief Marketing Officer of Txpro IT, was the judge of the event. UIU BBA Team Fashion Crusher was champion, BRAC University Dx Generation was 1st runner up and UIU INCONCO was 2nd runner up.
