Seminar at UCASM

A seminar to provide career guidance for students who have completed HSC was arranged recently by United College of Aviation, Science & Management (UCASM) and overall management of the Omar Sultan Foundation, at the IDEB Building.
The seminar was chaired by Mohammad Ali, Principal of UCASM. Dr. Kim Jin-U, Dean of External Affairs; Dr. Wine Tie-Cheop, Director and Dong-Ho Kim, Manager of External Affairs, Hanseo University, South Korea attended as the special guests.
The demand for skilled manpower in aviation and the career prospects for those with higher technical education were discussed at the seminar.
Omar Sultan Foundation declared a 50 lakh taka scholarship for the students of the session to study in this institution on the basis of merit.

Special prayer held at SEU

A prayer meeting was held at Southeast University (SEU) main campus in Banani, Dhaka on September 2, to pay homage to the departed soul of the late Mohammad Farook, father of members of Board of Trustees of SEU, Dr. Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Hasan. Member of BOT, SEUT Advocate Niaz Ahmed; Member Secretary, Harun-Ar-Rashid Khan; Member Md. Reaz Uddin Ansari; Member of South Asia Foundation, Osman Goni Kanchon; Vice Chancellor of SEU, Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain and Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury were present at the meeting. Registrar of SEU, Brig Gen Md Anwarul Islam, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd.); Chief Coordinator of SEUT, Wing Commander, Syed Ahmed Kabir, fawc, psc (Retd.); deans and chairs of different schools, faculty members and officials were present on the occasion.

DIU signs MoU with Drik Gallery

Daffodil International University (DIU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Drik Gallery at the DIU conference room on September 3.
Professor Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of DIU, and Saiful Islam, Chief Executive Officer, Drik Picture Library Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor; Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Affairs; Mohammad Masum Iqbal, Head, Department of Business Administration;  Mominul Haque Majumder, Director (Finance & Accounts) of DIU and Dr. Shahidul Alam, Managing Director of Drik Gallery, were present at the event.
Under this agreement, both the organisations will have the opportunity to share venue for trainings, exhibitions and seminars. Drik and DIU will create opportunities for internship placement and joint productions considering DIU students for development and state of the art multimedia resources from Drik.

Orientation programs for newly enrolled students at EWU

The orientation programs for the newly enrolled students for Fall Semester 2014 of East West University (EWU) were held at the University's campus on September 4. Every department arranged its own program for new students. More than 800 students got admitted in 11 different disciplines this semester.
Department of Business Administration (DBA) arranged the orientation program at the auditorium lobby of EWU. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of Board of Trustees, graced the event as the chief guest while Professor Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor, was present as the special guest. Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairperson of DBA and Dean of Faculty of Business & Economics, chaired the program. Among others, Air Cdre Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury (Rted), Registrar of EWU, was also present on the stage.
Dr. Mahfuz, newly appointed Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Law, welcomed the newly admitted students. Professor Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering; Professor Dr. Shahriar Haque, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Science; Dr. Dilara Begum, Librarian of EWU, among others, were present at the program.

Tree plantation at AUB permanent campus

On September 3, a tree plantation program was held at the permanent campus of Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB) in collaboration with Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd (AIBL). The Vice Chancellor of AUB, Professor Dr. Abul Hasan M. Sadeq, was the chief guest, while Muhammad Hossain, Manager of AIBL, Uttara branch, participated as a special guest. Other officials of AUB and AIBL, and also some students of AUB attended the program.
The construction of the permanent campus of AUB is progressing in Ashulia, on a 10-acre area, the foundation stone of which was laid by Nurul Islam Nahid, Education Minister.

1st Intra-University Debate Competition-2014 at BUBT

Debating Club of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) recently organised the 1st Intra-University Debate Competition-2014 on September 3. It ended on September 4. Debating Club of BUBT also arranged workshops and intra-department selection debate to select the participants to represent the teams at the final competition. About 200 students participated in the screening sessions, out of which 44 students were selected from 11 departments of BUBT.
The team from the Department of Management became the champion and the team from Department of Finance was the runner up. The final debate and the prize giving ceremony were presided over by Professor Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor of BUBT. Professor Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman of the Board of Trusties, BUBT was present as the chief guest. Professor Md. Abu Saleh, the Vice Chancellor of the university, was present as the special guest at the event. Professor Md. Ali Azam, Academic Advisor; Professor A.B. Md. Badrudozza Mian, Controller of Examinations, and deans of different faculties were present at the ceremony.

Freshman Orientation Program at BRAC University

The Undergraduate Orientation Program of Fall 2014 took place on September 8 at BRAC University's Mohakhali campus. Vice Chancellor, Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb, was the chief guest at the event. Professor Fuad Hassan Mallick, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Professor Riaz Partha Khan, Dean of Student Affairs Office & Teaching Learning Centre;  Professor Firdous Azim, Chairperson of English & Humanities and Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, Director, BRAC Institute of Language spoke on the occasion. Sukhendra Kumar Sarkar, Treasurer and Registrar; Muhammad Sahool Afzal were present along with the company of all heads of the departments, faculty members and administrative staff to welcome new undergraduate students with their parents who attended the session.
There was an interactive dialogue session between the concerned personnel and the guardians for better understanding of BRAC University campus life and co-curricular activities.
