Budget session to continue until July 9 in parliament

The budget session, which is also the second session of the 13th National Parliament, will continue until July 9, with 40 hours allocated for discussions on the budget.

The third meeting of the parliamentary Business Advisory Committee today also decided that except on public holidays, the session will convene daily at 3:00pm.

A proposal was also made to hold two sittings per day from June 27 to June 30.

The meeting was chaired by the committee’s president, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad.

Committee member, Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur Rahman, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, two senior MPs Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, along with others attended the meeting.

By special invitation of the speaker, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal MP also joined the meeting.

For this session, a total of 3,228 questions have been received -- 191 for the prime minister and 3,037 for ministers. Additionally, 98 notices of attention under Rule 71 and 293 notices of resolutions under Rule 131 have been submitted.
