Foreign travellers can now complete Embarkation and Disembarkation Card online

Foreign passport holders travelling to or from Bangladesh can now complete their Embarkation and Disembarkation (ED) Card requirements and seek advance assistance for visa on arrival through an online platform.

Md Kamrul Islam, special superintendent (immigration) of the Special Branch, confirmed the development to The Daily Star today.

“Passengers holding foreign passports are required to fill in an ED Card when entering or leaving Bangladesh through airports. Foreign nationals seeking visa on arrival also often have to wait in long queues at airports,” he said.

Under the new arrangement, foreign passport holders can complete the required process in advance through the Special Branch’s online portal before travelling.

The service is also intended to provide advance assistance to passengers seeking visa on arrival, allowing them to complete relevant information before reaching the airport, the officer added.
