Riad Mahmud appointed MD of Standard Islami Bank
Riad Mahmud Chowdhury has been appointed as the managing director (MD) of Standard Islami Bank PLC.
Prior to this appointment, he was working at Eastern Bank PLC as deputy managing director and head of corporate banking, concurrently, according to a press release.
He began his banking career at IFIC Bank PLC as a senior officer in 2000.
Subsequently, he worked at AB Bank PLC before joining Eastern Bank PLC in 2004.
During his more than 26-year banking career, Riad Mahmud has demonstrated remarkable success in managing large corporate portfolios and non-performing loans, as well as in developing specialised Islamic banking frameworks and implementing digital cross-border trade solutions.
In recognition of his strategic vision, strong leadership, in-depth banking knowledge and innovative mindset, he has consistently achieved significant success at every stage of his professional career. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Dhaka and later completed an MBA in finance at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the same university.
He also holds internationally recognised certifications in commercial credit analysis from Moody’s and Omega Corporation in the United Kingdom (UK).
