Uber has re-launched its ridesharing services in Chattogram, extending its presence in Bangladesh beyond its existing markets.

Riders in the city can now book rides through the Uber app, while drivers gain access to earning opportunities on the platform, according to a press release issued yesterday.

It may be noted that Uber first launched services in Chattogram in April 2018.

At the launch event, State Minister for Lands and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, said Chattogram was one of Bangladesh’s most important commercial and economic centres and that mobility played a critical role in supporting its growth.

“We welcome Uber’s launch in the city and appreciate investments that create flexible earning opportunities, support digital innovation, and enhance convenience for residents and visitors alike.”

The country general manager of Uber Bangladesh, Redwan Rezvi, said the company was excited to bring its technology platform to one of the country’s most vibrant and fast-growing cities.

“Bangladesh continues to be an important market for Uber, and we remain committed to expanding access to reliable mobility while creating flexible economic opportunities for drivers.”

Uber first launched in Bangladesh in 2016 and has since expanded to multiple cities across the country.
