Competition for interior designers launched
to be held in Dhaka in November
A nationwide competition has recently been launched for emerging interior designers and architects to display their skills in use of material, space, colour, texture, lighting and graphics.
The competition is a lead-up to the Home Fest Dhaka 2015, a first of its kind home decor expo, will start at the International Convention City in Bashundhara, Dhaka on November 6.
The best design will win Tk 3 lakh and the top designers in 17 categories will get featured at Home Fest Dhaka for feedback and booking.
Windmill Initiative, an in-house effort of Windmill Group, is organising the competition and the two-day expo.
The events are supported by Brac Bank, Windmill said in a statement yesterday.
Reazuddin Mosharaf, managing director of Windmill Group; Sabbir Rahman Tanim, chief executive of Windmill Advertising, and Firoz Ahmed Khan, head of retail banking at Brac Bank, attended a press meet to announce the home decor expo and the contest.
Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, chief marketing officer of Super Star Group (SSG), and Mohammad Abdur Rouf, chief operating officer of Brac-Aarong and AAF, were also present.
"We have talent, we have resources; they just need to come together to create something stunning. This is the main idea behind Home Fest Dhaka Interior Designing Competition," Tanim said.
"In our country, we have separate showrooms for all the components necessary, but these are scattered all over the city. Home Fest Dhaka will bring everyone and everything to the same platform."
The fest will display 17 model rooms divided into three types of flats according to individual needs, the company said.
The flats will be fully furnished with furniture solutions, lighting solutions, paint solutions, tiles and fittings solutions, and all other accessories at very special rates, according to the statement.
The Daily Star is a strategic partner of Home Fest for which SSG and Aarong are event partners.
SSG and Aarong will supply customised product bundles by taking the budget, consumers' taste and fashion trends into consideration, Windmill said.
Additionally, there will be stalls by non-partner companies as well.
