24 govt holidays for bankers in 2023

Bankers in Bangladesh will have 24 government holidays in 2023 apart from the two days in the weekends, according to a circular issued by the Bangladesh Bank today.

The first banking holiday will be on February 21, which is the International Mother Language Day, and the last will be on December 31, a regular off-day for banks given at year's end.

The banking regulator also said in the circular that 10 of the holidays—such as Shab-e-Barat, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha—may be observed on different dates as those depend on the appearance of the moon.
