64 traders fined Tk 9 lakh for consumer rights violation

The Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) today fined 64 traders Tk 9.18 lakh across the country for their failure to protect consumers' rights.

The directorate imposed the fines during market monitoring activities in 33 districts of the country, including Dhaka metropolitan city.

A DNCRP official said traders have been advised not to violate the Consumer-Rights Protection Act, 2009.

On Saturday, DNCRP raided Mohammadpur Krishi Market in Dhaka and fined three traders for various offences against consumer rights.
