DSEX crosses 6,000 points, a three-year high
Dhaka stocks crossed the 6,000 points level today after more than three years thanks to the higher participation of buoyant investors in banking stocks.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), soared 22 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 6,008.69.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, fell 9 per cent to Tk 2,149 crore.
At the DSE, 144 stocks advanced, 174 fell and 46 remained unchanged.
Dutch-Bangla Bank topped the gainers' list that rose 10 per cent followed by IFAD Autos, Aftab Automobiles, Prime Life Insurance and Jamuna Bank.
Beximco Ltd became the top traded stock with shares worth Tk 116 crore changing hands followed by Pioneer Insurance, IFAD Autos, AB Bank, and Northern Insurance.
Delta Spinners shed the most that lost 9.34 per cent followed by Imam Button, Taufika Foods and Agro Industries, Aman Feed, and Purabi General Insurance.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also experienced a rise today.
The CASPI, the general index of the port city bourse, advanced 31 points, or 0.18 per cent, to 17,379.
Among the traded 303 stocks, 121 rose, 143 fell and 39 remained unchanged.
