Inflation dropped 30 basis points to 5.26 per cent in May, Planning Minister MA Mannan said today.

"It's good news and we are happy," he said at a press briefing after a meeting of the National Economic Council.

At the same time, food inflation fell 70 basis points to 4.87 per cent while non-food inflation increased 31 basis points to 5.86 per cent, the minister said.

It is good for the poor that the food inflation declined in May, he said.
