Population, housing census from Jun 15

The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) will start conducting the population and housing census from June 15.

The sixth survey of the BBS will be weeklong and it will conducted in digital format.

Around 3.7 lakh numerators will collect the data countrywide by using 3.95 lakh tablet computers.

The authorities will collect data through Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing system by using the Geographic Information System across the country.

Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid is expected to unveil the memorial stamp while the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give a speech in this regard.

The BBS made the announcement today at a press briefing at the National Economic Council of the planning ministry in the morning.

The Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as the chief guest while state minister for planning Prof Shamsul Alam as special guest.

The first census was held in 1974.
