SMEVAI Technologies Ltd celebrates International MSME Day 2022

SMEVAI Technologies Ltd organised a roundtable titled "Demystifying bank financing for MSMEs in Bangladesh: role of private sector intervention" on the occasion of the International MSME Day in Dhaka on June 27.

The relevant stakeholders to the SME community joined the programme and quipped action-oriented solutions and suggestions to expand the net for bank financing for MSME businesses.

Such stakeholders included representatives from the MSME business owners and communities, Bangladesh Bank, leading banks and financial institutions, academia, and tech-enablers for MSME businesses like SME Vai and Sheba Platforms.

The participants concurred on the fact that while SME financing in Bangladesh has been a priority area for many relevant stakeholders, a lot more needs to be done on a rather basic level to expand the coverage of bank financing for SMEs in Bangladesh and thereby make more MSMEs bankable.

The session was moderated by Professor Dr Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, chairman of the Department of Finance under University of Dhaka.
